Southern Classical

Southern Classical provides event listings, news, reviews and features from the classical music scene. It covers events over a wide area, in and around Portsmouth, Fareham, Havant, Petersfield, Chichester, Bognor Regis, Midhurst and Petworth*.

Around fifty performing groups, as well as organisers of events, are currently listed on the site. The website is content-rich and fully searchable, enabling users to easily find relevant information.

Southern Classical is kept fully up to date with all the details you will need to find out about performers and venues. You can see what each group is planning to perform and in which venue. You can switch to the list of venues and see which groups are appearing in each of them.

By subscribing to our newsletter, you will receive receive links to event listings and news.

Use the menus above to view the member groups and venues.

A noticeboard covers news about performers and performances, previews and reviews.

We post to Facebook as well as Instagram and (occasionally) X to let you know when there’s an update on the Noticeboard.

We welcome interviews with people connected to our musical community – we write personal profiles.

Profile your group on Southern Classical

If you represent a classical musical group performing in or around Portsmouth (including Fareham, Petersfield, Chichester, Midhurst, Petworth and Bognor Regis) and you want to profile your group on Southern Classical, please contact me.

I am asking for a donation of £25 for each performing group or organiser of events for 2026 to help maintain and develop the site.

These are the benefits that you will receive:

  • I will update the website with content relating to your own group, following your instructions but also using the content that’s available on your website and social media channels.
  • You can get news, concert previews and news published via the Noticeboard.
  • A long-term diary lists any events that are planned over the next few years. Its principal purpose is to help avoid clashes of event and repertoire.
  • I encourage groups to put a reference to Southern Classical in their concert programmes, thereby promoting each other’s concerts.
  • This website will drive traffic to your websites, thereby improving your search engine optimisation.
  • I use Facebook and Instagram to support all these activities.

To find out more, please call me on 07767 230389 or contact me via this site.

Best wishes,
Simon O’Hea – Founder/Editor
