Jonathan Wilcocks – conductor
Vaughan Williams – A Sea Symphony
Elgar – Enigma Variations
Parry – Blest pair of sirens
At the heart of this inspiring celebration of English music is Vaughan Williams – A Sea Symphony, a brilliantly colourful and dramatic choral masterpiece that – through the poetry of Walt Whitman – captures the essence of our maritime heritage. Never can as dramatic a choral opening as “Behold, the sea” be more apt. The concert also includes Elgar’s ever-popular Enigma Variations and, as a stirring opening to the programme, Parry – Blest pair of sirens.
Tickets are £30 to £10.
