Obsidian Baroque: Wonder Women of the Baroque

Join Obsidian Baroque for an inspiring in-person event at The Chichester City Arts Centre on November 14, 2026 at 6:15 PM (GMT).

This concert celebrates the remarkable achievements and stories behind Wonder Women of the Baroque.

With the support of the Continuo Foundation, they will explore the remarkable women of Baroque music. Featuring instrumental works by Anna Bon, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Madame Laschansky, Isabella Leonarda, and others, they will combine live performance with storytelling, exploring how these women navigated a male-dominated musical world.

Obsidian Baroque formed in summer 2024. They were chosen to participate in the 2025 and 2026 BBC/National Centre of Early Music’s New Generation Baroque Artists development days at the Royal College of Music. They focus on Baroque era music (17th and 18th century) and Baroque dance music. The musicians are graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Individually they play with prestigious groups including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Florilegium, The Academy of Ancient Music and Gabrieli. In 2026 they were delighted and grateful to receive support from the Continuo Foundation.
